Reason Magazine talks about the abuse of the child support system. One thing I didn’t know- the state gets a cut of child support payments, and also uses it to reduce welfare rolls and even pay back the state retroactively for welfare a mother has recieved. All of this frequently on the flimsiest (or even nonexistent) evidence that the father is even the father.

It’s becoming increasingly clear that this is not being done in the interest of the child, but in the interest of bureaucrats and the financial health of the welfare state.
